Catholic Chaplain

Fr Kevin
Hello

My name is Kevin Melody, a Carmelite Friar, and in September 2017 I was appointed to minister as Catholic Chaplain at the University of York.

Our ministry in the Chaplaincy is based firmly within the Kingdom of God model which welcomes all who are open to the Spirit in all its manifestations.
Together we seek to create a community of encounter with Jesus Christ and with other people, communities of trust, friendship, belonging, hospitality, collaboration and shared responsibilities. Centred on the Eucharist and the Word of God, we follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.

We follow the teaching of Pope Francis who invites us to reflect on who Jesus is: “He who sees us first, he who loves us first, he who welcomes us first." When we discover that Jesus' love anticipates us, continued the Pope, "that it reaches us first, life changes”. We want to be part of a community that opens each member of the university community to the change that Christ offers.

All students and staff of the University are welcome to share in our mission of serving God and all God's people.

I can be contacted by mobile on 07 858 39 17 27  or via email at kevin.melody @ york.ac.uk
